DSG clutch symptoms can include take-off shudder, slip, delayed engagement, vibration, overheating and adaptation faults. Correct diagnosis separates clutch wear from mechatronic, engine, mounting, flywheel and internal gearbox problems.
Dry And Wet DSG Clutches
The DQ200 uses a dry dual-clutch arrangement, while DQ250, DQ381, DQ500 and longitudinal S tronic units use wet multi-plate clutches. Their tools, measurements, fluid requirements and adaptation procedures differ.
Clutch Replacement Process
- Confirm the transmission and clutch specification.
- Verify the complaint and review clutch data and adaptations.
- Remove the transmission and inspect related components.
- Install and set up the correct clutch using required measurements and tools.
- Perform coding, basic settings, adaptations and road testing.
Related Components
The dual-mass flywheel, release system, seals, oil contamination, mechatronic operation and engine mounts may need assessment. If clutch material or metal has contaminated the gearbox, further dismantling may be required.
