DQ250 DSG Service Versus Repair: How To Tell The Difference

The six-speed DQ250 is a wet-clutch DSG that commonly has a scheduled fluid and filter service. That maintenance is important, but a service should not be presented as a guaranteed fix for an existing shift fault.

What The Service Does

The service renews the specified transmission fluid and filter, sets the level under the correct conditions and provides an opportunity to inspect for leaks, fluid contamination and stored faults.

What The Service Does Not Fix

Fluid cannot repair worn clutch plates, a damaged dual-mass flywheel, failed solenoids, hydraulic leakage inside the mechatronic, electrical faults, bearing damage or contaminated internal components.

Signs Diagnosis Should Come First

• Flashing PRNDS or transmission warning
• No Drive or Reverse
• Harsh engagement or severe shudder
• Grinding, whining or heavy rattling
• Stored clutch-pressure or mechatronic faults
• Metal or excessive debris in the oil
