There is no single service interval that applies to every DSG. Wet-clutch, dry-clutch, hybrid and longitudinal S tronic transmissions use different fluid circuits, filters and maintenance schedules.
Factors That Change The Service Requirement
- Exact gearbox family and code
- Vehicle model, build date and market
- Wet or dry clutch design
- Separate mechatronic and gear-oil circuits
- Hybrid or all-wheel-drive configuration
- Updated manufacturer information
- Severe operating conditions or previous repairs
Why Guessing Can Cause Problems
Using an incorrect fluid or level procedure can affect shift quality and component life. Some gearboxes require temperature-controlled level setting, while others have separate fluids or filters.
Service With A Fault Present
If the gearbox has a warning light, severe shudder, loss of gears, pressure fault or mechanical noise, diagnosis should generally precede routine servicing. Maintenance cannot repair failed components.
