A scan is one part of DSG diagnosis. The goal is to gather enough evidence to distinguish mechatronic, clutch, electrical, software and internal gearbox faults.
Customer History
Temperature, driving conditions, previous repairs, intermittent behaviour and exact warning messages guide the test plan.
Full Vehicle Scan
Engine, ABS, gateway and battery faults can influence gearbox operation. Related modules should be scanned, not ignored.
Electrical Baseline
Battery, charging system, fuses, power, earth, connector condition and CAN communication are checked.
Gearbox Live Data
Pressure, pump operation, clutch position, selector values, temperatures, adaptations and commanded versus actual movement are reviewed.
Mechanical Assessment
Road test, fluid condition, leaks, flywheel, mounts and abnormal noises help identify faults outside the mechatronic.
Repair Plan
The findings should explain the likely cause, recommended repair, limitations, parts source and any further dismantling required.
DSG faults should be diagnosed from the complete evidence: gearbox identity, fault history, electrical supply, hydraulic and clutch data, mechanical condition and the circumstances in which the problem occurs.
