A mechatronic solenoid converts an electrical command into hydraulic control. A code can therefore relate to the electrical circuit, the mechanical valve, hydraulic flow or the result the transmission expected but did not achieve.
Electrical Faults
Open circuit, short to ground, short to positive and resistance faults require connector, harness and coil testing. A code description should not be used to skip these checks.
Performance Or Plausibility Faults
The solenoid may be electrically intact but unable to control pressure because of contamination, sticking, hydraulic wear or an internal leak.
Related Mechanical Causes
A clutch or selector that cannot move normally can make the control system report a solenoid or pressure-performance problem. Mechanical load must be considered.
Repair Options
Depending on the unit, repair may involve wiring, a tested solenoid or valve-body repair, complete mechatronic repair or replacement. Cleanliness and post-repair adaptation are essential.
DSG faults should be diagnosed from the complete evidence: gearbox identity, fault history, electrical supply, hydraulic and clutch data, mechanical condition and the circumstances in which the problem occurs.
